FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Here are some questions commonly asked by our customers. If you have any questions that are not included here, feel free to ask us by calling our office at (813) 413-1726 or email us at info@comfortairfl.com

What is a SEER Rating?

SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. It is the rating used to measure the efficiency of your heating and cooling systems. SEER rating is determined by comparing how much your system can cool or heat and how much energy it uses.

The higher the SEER Rating, the more efficient a system would be. However, the rating differs in each state due to different environmental protection laws. In Florida, heating and cooling systems need a SEER Rating of at least 14.

What should I consider when buying a new air conditioning system?

Other than the SEER Rating, you also need to consider the size of your home or workplace, your budget, and the type of insulation you have. This is because regardless of how big your system is or how high the SEER rating is, it will still become inefficient if your home or workplace is not properly insulated.

Do you have any warranties?

Yes. All installations will have a 10-year warranty on the equipment, plus a 1-year warranty on labor. However, warranties will be voided if annual maintenance is not conducted on the system.

Does my system really need regular maintenance?

Yes. Your cooling or heating system will eventually wear down. Aside from protecting your warranty, regular maintenance will increase the lifespan of your systems. It also helps to make sure that your air conditioner or heater is working efficiently. Otherwise, you'll be paying higher energy bills without enjoying the full capacities of your system. Also, regular maintenance can reveal damages within the system that you normally would not notice. If these damages are ignored, they might turn into bigger and more expensive problems.

How often should I have my air conditioning system maintained?

If your system is not being constantly used, it will only require one maintenance per year. If it runs all year round like in an office, it will need at least two visits per year. If it's used in areas with a high level of contaminants like hair salons, kitchens, or a plant, multiple maintenance visits are needed.

Can you still service my system even if I am no longer under warranty?

Yes. As long as you want us to, we will provide you with the same reliable and quality HVAC services we prvoide all of our customers.

Will you service and repair systems you didn't install?

Yes. Just contact us for a free inspection and free quotation on the service you need.

How often should I have my air filters cleaned?

It all depends on the usage and the location of the system. Normally, you would need to have your filters cleaned at least once a year. However, if it's used heavily or is located in dusty areas, it would need more frequent cleaning.

Can I maintain my system by myself?

No. Maintaining your heating or cooling systems is more than just cleaning the filters. It includes cleaning the coils, inspecting the contactors, tightening loose connections, and more. All of these require a licensed and experienced technician.

What's included in your maintenance?

Can I "DIY" an air conditioning installation?

No. Installing an air conditioning unit involves more than just watching a YouTube video. Unless you have the expertise and experience to do so, it's best to leave the installation to a professional HVAC contractor. Even having a qualified builder install it for you might end up costing more in repairs in the long run.

How long will it take to install my system?

It depends on certain things like the size of the building, type of installation, the location, and the type of unit you want. Usually, it will take anywhere from a day up to a few weeks for a full installation.

Can you work on weekends?

Yes. If necessary, installations will be carried over through the evenings or weekends. We also have a repair service.

Do you offer free inspections?

Yes. Our quotes and inspections are free for all services.

What can I expect in the free quote?

A quote for a full installation would usually include the unit price, the cost of labor, and all other equipment needed. We will make sure that everything we do is stipulated in the quote so that there are no surprises.

Do you sell HVAC units separately?

No. We want to make sure that your system will be installed properly by licensed technicians. This is to prevent malfunctions or damages that might cost more in the future.
